Amiga to SCART cable

Karl Jeacle - April 1993

I believe the last article in the CUGI newsletter explaining how to make an Amiga to SCART cable appeared in September 1990.

Unfortunately, it contained a few errors that could confuse anyone attempting to make this type of cable. I recently discovered this the hard way when trying to connect my Amiga directly to the SCART socket on the back of my television.

After determining the correct pin assignments, I created a table and a diagram explaining how to make your own cable.

You need a female DB23 connector for the Amiga, a SCART connector for the television or monitor (this cable also works with standard Philips CM8833 or CBM1084 displays), and an 8-core cable to connect them.

The DB23 and SCART connectors in the diagram below are shown from the rear, as you see them when soldering wires to the pins.
